Friday, June 4

Relay for Life Howard County's Relay For Life, an overnight event that celebrates cancer survivorship and raises money for the American Cancer Society, will be held Friday and Saturday at Hammond High School in Columbia. Opening ceremonies start at 6:30 p.m. A Silent Auction will be held June 4. Children 14 and younger can participate in the Kids' Walk. Registration starts at 6 p.m. and the walk begins at 7:30 p.m. With a $10 donation, children will get a T-shirt. Teams raise money by asking for donations or holding fundraisers. "People Worth Knowing" Exhibit featuring photographs by Columbia photographer Stanley L. Rodbell runs through Aug. 28 at the Himmelfarb Gallery at Tai Sophia Institute, 7750 Montpelier Road, Laurel. Art show and sale The Willowbrook Painters Studio annual art show and sale will be held at Oliver's Carriage House, 5410 Leaf Treader Way, Columbia. Flea market and book sale Shepherd of the Glen Lutheran Church will hold a Flea Market and Mini Book Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 14551 Burntwoods Road in Glenwood. Future

Columbia Home Tour Self-conducted tour takes participants through five homes within the first four villages of Columbia. The Other Barn will offer refreshments, and showcase renovations. Tickets are $20 per person and are available at all village center offices. Information: 410-730-8113.

Photography exhibit The Columbia Art Center Galleries will present "A Collecting Affair III: The Art of Collecting Photography," June 10-27 at the center, 6100 Foreland Garth in Columbia. The exhibition showcases collectors' photographs of five local female photographers, Denee Barr, Carol Cathcart, Joan Forester, Maili Godwin and Laura Vernon Russell. A free reception will be held 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 15. Gallery hours are 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Home and garden tour The Eastport Civic Association's fifth annual Home & Garden Tour will be 1 p.. to 5 p.m. June 13. Ten homes and gardens will be part of the tour, which stretches from the harbor's edge to Chester Avenue. All homes are within walking distance of each other. Advance tickets are $20 and are available at five locations: Ahh, Coffee! and Eastport Deli (both in the Eastport Shopping Center), K&B True Value Hardware Store (on 912 Forest Drive), Long & Foster (Eastport Office) and Windwood Gardens (on Old Solomon's Road). Tickets are also available online at http://www.eastportcivic.org. Tickets will be available the day of the tour for $25 at tour headquarters, 22 Severn Ave.
