Baltimore County homicide detectives were investigating Saturday separate overnight shootings that left two men dead, one of them shot nine times.

The first shooting occurred just before midnight Friday in the 3800 block of McDowell Lane in Halethorpe, according to police, who received a 911 call at 11:48 p.m. The male victim was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.

No further information on the victim or any suspects was immediately available, said Baltimore County Police Cpl. John Wachter.

The second homicide took place in Dundalk, in the 7000 block of Railway Ave. Witnesses called police at 2:24 a.m., saying a man had been shot in the head and that two males were spotted running from the scene.

When police responded, they found the 40-year-old victim riddled with bullets — he was shot nine times — but still breathing. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Wachter said the victim's name has not been released and no arrests have been made in the case.
