Matusz, O's get Texas-toasted

Rangers 13, Orioles 7

Starter allows 7 earned runs in just 2 1/3 innings

Castillo rocked, too, then demoted

"I think it's easy to put the finger on it and say, 'Well, you know, he didn't pitch very good, or his command wasn't very good, or he didn't locate very good,' " Trembley said. "I would rather say Texas just came out swinging and showed that they are a very good offensive ballclub, and they have the numbers to prove it, especially against left-handed pitching."

Actually, Feldman wasn't a whole lot better than Matusz, but he did keep the ball in the park and make a couple of key pitches to get out of jams. Feldman allowed 12 hits, the most by a starter who wound up winning the game this season.

The scalding Luke Scott again was the Orioles' most dangerous hitter, going 3-for-5 with an RBI, two doubles and a walk. He's now 18-for-34 in his past nine games with seven multi-hit contests. He's also reached base in 10 of his past 13 plate appearances.

The Orioles had 15 total hits, but not enough of them were of any consequence, and two of their expected top run producers continue to struggle in such situations. Wieters went 1-for-4 but struck out twice and stranded five base runners, and is now 9-for-40 (.225) with 13 strikeouts with runners in scoring position this season.

Adam Jones was 1-for-5 with two strikeouts, and his lone hit, an RBI double in the ninth inning, came with the Orioles trailing 13-5. He's just 6-for-28 (.214) with runners in scoring position this season.
