8-year-old Harford Co. boy drowns in Abingdon stream

An 8-year-old Harford County boy drowned in an Abingdon stream near his home Friday night.

The boy was playing with another child near a stream about a half mile from Harford Town Drive, inside a housing development, at about 7:36 p.m., said Monica Worrell, a Harford County police spokeswoman.

The boy had been playing in the area with another child who went to get help, Worrell said.

He was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, she said.
