Margaret "Peg" Bauermann

Medical secretary active in Catholic charitable groups

Margaret "Peg" Bauermann, a former medical secretary who was active in Roman Catholic charitable organizations, died of congestive heart failure May 12 at Good Samaritan Hospital. The Timonium resident was 75.

Born Margaret Hofmann in Baltimore, she was raised in Woodlawn and Rodgers Forge and graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School in 1952. She was president of the school's Choral Club and an officer of its Repertoire Club.

She attended what is now Stevenson University and later worked for Dr. Gibson Wells, a St. Paul Street pediatrician.

She met her future husband, Charles "Chuck" Bauermann, who became a certified public accountant, on Ocean City's boardwalk.

Mrs. Bauermann was active at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart church and school in Mount Washington and at St. Pius X Church in Rodgers Forge. She belonged to the PTA and organized fairs, wine tastings and spaghetti dinners.

She was a past board president of the St. Vincent's Child Care Center Auxiliary and was a volunteer for the Serra Club of Baltimore.

A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Church, 13717 Cuba Road in Hunt Valley, where she was a member.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years; a son, Chris Bauermann of Parkton; four daughters, Karen Whitcome of Towson, Cathy Schwartz of Timonium, Cindy Foster of Towson and Peggy Stone of Lutherville; a brother, Drew Hofmann of San Clemente, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
