'Communicating Effectively with the Media'

The Volunteer Center Serving Howard County presents this free program from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Slayton House, 10400 Cross Fox Lane, Columbia. The program is offered for those who deal with news media, especially volunteers who might be asked to serve as media coordinators or public information officers. An exhibit of watercolors and pastels by the late Donora Dingman and photography by Henry Friedman will be on display Thursday, May 20, through June 12 in the Bill White Room Gallery at Slayton House, 10400 Cross Fox Lane. 'Angels in America'

The Howard Community College Student Arts Collective presents performances and readings of Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning drama through Sunday, May 16, in the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center's Studio Theatre, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway. Slayton House sessions

Slayton House Camp of the Arts is accepting registration for its summer camp sessions at 10400 Cross Fox Lane in Columbia. Dates are June 24-July 9, July 12-30 and Aug. 2-13. Students who have completed a full year of kindergarten and those in grades one through eight are eligible. Slayton House Conservatory is accepting registration for its summer sessions. The first session, June 28-July 9, concentrates on the intricacies of theater work and includes a workshop by a local actor.
