No new drilling

May 12, 2010

Thanks to the Baltimore Sun for publishing a message from Sen. Ben Cardin promoting clean energy legislation ("Oil spill a lesson for nation," May 11). He is giving wise advice that investing in clean energy such as solar, nuclear, wind and waves will generate the kinds of American jobs that can't be exported. It's a win-win situation for the health of the planet and a boost for the American economy.

Should disaster similar to the Gulf Coast oil rig leak occur in the Mid-Atlantic region, Marylanders would be up in arms over damage to our shores, wildlife and seafood and the loss of income to fishermen and lost benefits of tourism. Let's not wait for disaster to strike our beloved shores. We should all speak up and contact our representatives to scrap any plans for new offshore drilling. No new drilling!
