Maryland Natural Resources Police have identified a body found Thursday floating in the Susquehanna River.

Phillip Shimeboff, 49, of Delta, Pa., was discovered about 4:30 p.m. after police received a call from an onlooker who saw the body in the water, a police spokesman said.

Shimeboff had been missing since Saturday, when the boat he and three others were in capsized just north of the Conowingo Dam in an area known as Cops Cove, according to Sgt. Art Windemuth, the spokesman.

Windemuth said Shimeboff had attempted to assist one of the boaters who was struggling in the water when he disappeared. The three others were rescued Saturday night.

Shimeboff's body was sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy, police said.

Natural Resources Police will continue its investigation.
