A 22-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Tuesday after he plead guilty to hitting a 69-year-old man, causing him to become unconscious and later die in the hospital two years ago.

Keon Christian Dorsey 22 of the 5300 block of Cuthbert Avenue in Baltimore pled guilty to the second-degree murder of Ellsworth Monroe-Bey, 69 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, according to a news release from the Baltimore State's Attorney's Office.

According to the release, on April 25, 2008, Dorsey struck Monroe-Bey in the face and head causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground in the 3800 Block of West Belvedere Street. Monroe-Bey became unconscious, but Dorsey and other unknown individuals continued to assault him and rob him.

Monroe-Bey was taken to Sinai Hospital and never regained consciousness due to massive head injuries, the release said. He was placed on life support and died on May 2, 2008. According to the release, an autopsy ruled the death a homicide by blunt force trauma as a result of the assault.
