Alzheimer's Association

Volunteers ages 25 and older are needed to lead support groups for early-stage Alzheimer's disease and related dementia. Volunteers must be a licensed nurse or social worker with knowledge of the progression of the disease and have strong communication and group-support management skills. American Cancer Society

Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions at several locations. Information: 410-721-4304 or cancer.org.

Annapolis Language Bank

Volunteers with second-language capability are needed to help communicate with visitors who have difficulty speaking English. Information: 410-263-1183.

Annapolis Opera

Volunteers ages 16 and older are needed to help with publicity, school outreach, ad sales, bookkeeping, computer work, support for vocal competitions and auditions and more. Information: 410-267-8135 or annapolisopera.org.

Chesapeake Arts Center

The Chesapeake Arts Center seeks volunteers ages 16 and older to serve as ushers and at the box office for performances at the Hammonds Lane and/or Studio 194 theaters. County clearinghouse

The Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County is a clearinghouse for information about volunteering throughout the county. Help is needed to assist with the database, newsletter, and new youth service activities and maintaining online volunteer matching applications. Electronics Museum

The museum at 1745 W. Nursery Road in Linthicum seeks volunteers ages 14 and older weekdays and weekends for education and outreach, special events, as an administrative assistant, collections assistants and for visitor services. Training will be provided. Information: 410-765-0230.

Healing Arts

American Healing Arts Alliance Inc., a nonprofit educational alliance of healing arts and sciences organizations, educators, practitioners, students and individuals, is seeking volunteers ages 18 and older to help with monthly programs and events. The organization sponsors peace-building educational programs.

Help is needed with volunteer recruitment, event planning and logistics, fundraising, coordinating entertainment, grant-writing and press releases.

Summer Garden Theatre

Operation Military Kids

The organization is the Army's collaborative effort with communities to support the children of deployed service men and women. There are volunteer opportunities that range from camp counselors to workshop facilitators. Information: operationmilitarykids.org.

Salvation Army

•Volunteers are needed at the 511 S. Crain Highway location to serve lunch to the homeless between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. Information: 410-768-0477.

Volunteers are needed to drop off donations Monday through Friday for the Salvation Army's food pantries in Annapolis and Glen Burnie. Suggested items include nonperishable canned goods and boxed food; toiletries are also welcome. Groups that hold food drives can arrange to have the food picked up. Information: 410-263-4091.
