A 20-year-old man died after his motorcycle struck a car in Joppa Friday night, police said.

Karl Michael Kunze, 20, of Joppa was pronounced dead at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center after his 2009 Yamaha motorcycle struck a 2010 Toyota Corolla on Joppa Farm Road near Foster Knoll Drive, Harford County police said.

Witnesses told police that Kunze had been speeding and passing cars in a no-passing zone as he headed north on Joppa Farm Road, shortly after 7 p.m. Friday, according to a news release.

Police said his motorcycle struck the driver's side door of the Toyota, driven by Qiang Fu, 20, of Baltimore. Fu was driving west, through the intersection of Foster Knoll Drive and Joppa Farm Road, after coming to a stop, when Kunze struck his vehicle. Kunze was thrown from the motorcycle, while Fu's car continued, striking a tree and sign on Foster Knoll Drive.

Fu was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Police did not know his condition but said he was wearing a seat belt.
