Police investigate Friday night shooting in Glen Burnie

One man critically injured in shooting at parking lot

One man is in critical condition after a shooting in a grocery store parking lot in Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County Police said Friday.

The shooting occurred about 10:45 p.m. Friday night at the Super Fresh grocery store in the Harundale Plaza shopping center in the 7700 block of Richie Highway in Glen Bernie, Lt. Glenn Shanahan said.

One victim was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he is in critical condition. He was not identified.

Shanahan said there was an altercation between two groups of people in the parking lot and that officers found multiple shell casings spread over a 100-yard area. Police were not sure if the victim was the intended target in the shooting.

No arrests have been made, but police are interviewing multiple witnesses, Shanahan said. No motive in the shooting has been determined.

The shooting is the second in two days in Glen Burnie.

An Anne Arundel County police officer shot a Pasadena man in Glen Burnie shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday. Police said the victim charged the officer. He suffered injuries deemed not life-threatening.
