‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee' Red Branch Theatre Company presents this musical comedy about six young people vying for a spelling championship. Relay For Life A team meeting and bank night will be held at 6 p.m. at the East Columbia Library, 6600 Cradlerock Way. Current members are invited as well as those interested in forming or joining a team to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Also, at this meeting money can be turned in and fundraising ideas will be presented. Howard County's Relay For Life will be held June 4-5 at Hammond High School in Columbia. School board meeting Howard County Board of Education holds its regular meeting at 4 p.m. at 10910 Route 108 in Ellicott City. Meeting begins with a public forum where the public may address the board on any topic other than those for which a formal public hearing process exists. Information: 410-313-7046.

Friday, April 30

Wine tasting Howard Community College Educational Foundation, Decanter Fine Wines and The Wine Seller presents "Vino Scholastico," a tasting of distinctive wines to raise funds for scholarships, 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the Rouse Company Foundation Student Services Hall on the school's campus, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia. ‘Fiesta de Mayo' Howard County Friends of Latin America (HOCOFOLA) sponsors this fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hopewell Room, Owen Brown Community Center, 6800 Cradlerock Way, Columbia. Bike riding The Columbia Association's annual BikeAbout will be held May 8. In addition to the bike-riding event, the organization will offer a walking tour and a post-ride/walk celebration that includes fitness activities, a bike rodeo, bike repair clinics and more. Registration begins at 9a.m. after an opening ceremony. Bike rides start between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30a.m. Walkers leave on the two-mile walking tour at 11 a.m. Other activities begin at 11:30a.m. Information: 410-715-3103.
