Markey leads way as Wright beats Bel Air

Right-hander Brad Markey (3-0) went the distance, giving up five runs on five hits, walking two and striking out eight as top-ranked C. Milton Wright beat visiting Bel Air, 8-5, Wednesday.

Markey (1-for-2) hit a triple in the third inning and had an RBI and a run scored. C. M. Wright broke open a 1-1 tie by scoring three runs in the third and fourth innings.

Softball

No. 9 Lansdowne 17, Patapsco 2: The Vikings (10-1) led 3-0 after the first inning and scored five runs in the third and six in the fifth to outdistance the host Patriots (0-1).

No. 12 Mount de Sales 5, John Carroll 4: Right-hander Ashley Lesniewski pitched two innings of relief, gave up one run on two hits and struck out three for the win.

Lesniewski hit a three-run homer in the first to give the Sailors (9-6) an early lead.

Girls lacrosse

No. 1 McDonogh 15, Mount de Sales 3: The Eagles (10-0) limited the host Sailors to one goal in the first half. Ali Carpenter led McDonogh with a hat trick.

No. 4 Notre Dame Prep 15, Mercy 6: Covie Stanwick had five points (two goals and three assists) as the visiting Blazers (11-3) beat the Magic.

Notre Dame Prep led 11-1 at the half.

No. 15 Severn 8, Garrison Forest 4: Sisters Katie and McKenzie Carroll each scored twice and the visiting Admirals (8-5) led 5-0 at the half. Liza Blue scored the first goal for the Grizzlies (5-6) five minutes into the second half.
