What's the deal? This week marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on Thursday. To mark the milestone, Travelocity if offering up to 40 percent off eco-friendly hotels across the globe. The sale highlights the top 40 green hotel deals, but also offers discounts off more than 75 participating hotels in the online travel agency's Green Hotel Directory.

What are the savings? Varies depending on which hotel is selected, but guests can save about 20 percent to 40 percent off the average room rate, as calculated by Travelocity.

For example, Travelocity offers a weekday overnight stay at the Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge for $240 per night, beginning May 2. The rate for a standard room at the hotel is usually about $310 per night in May and June.

What's the catch? Blackout dates apply and the discount is based on availability — standard stuff. But also, about a quarter of the hotels are all-inclusive hotels located in Jamaica with rates that start at above $600 per night.
