Alzheimer's Association
Volunteers, age 25 and older, are needed to lead support groups for early-stage Alzheimer's disease and related dementia. Volunteers must be a licensed nurse or social worker with knowledge of the progression of the disease and have strong communication and group-support management skills. Training and background checks will be provided.

Annapolis Language Bank
Volunteers with second-language capability are needed to help communicate with visitors who have difficulty speaking English. Information: 410-263-1183.

Chesapeake Arts Center
The Chesapeake Arts Center seeks volunteers age 16 and older to serve as ushers and at the box office for performances at the Hammonds Lane and/or Studio 194 theaters. Children's fair
Camp Blaze needs volunteers to assist with its annual children's fair May 1 at the Big Vanilla Athletic Club, 1209 Ritchie Highway in Arnold. Information: 410-703-8528.
Friendly visitor
Volunteers are needed for the Friendly Visitor Program coordinated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities. A 90-minute training program takes place at the end of the month. The department matches a homebound person age 55 or older or an adult with disabilities with a volunteer visitor who comes to the person's home. Healing Arts
American Healing Arts Alliance Inc., a nonprofit educational alliance of healing arts and sciences organizations, educators, practitioners, students and individuals, is seeking volunteers 18 and older to help with monthly programs and events. The organization sponsors peace-building educational programs.
Help is needed with volunteer recruitment, event planning and logistics, fundraising, coordinating entertainment, grant-writing and press releases.

Operation Military Kids
