Ex-Terps offensive tackle Heyer re-signs with Redskins

April 15, 2010

Restricted free agents Stephon Heyer (Maryland) and Anthony Montgomery have resigned with the Washington Redskins. Heyer started all 16 games for the Redskins last season, 13 at right tackle and three at left tackle. He joined the team as an undrafted rookie in 2007. Montgomery has played in 42 games with 22 starts at defensive tackle over four seasons; he was a fifthround draft choice in 2006 from Minnesota.

STEELERS: Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took part in offseason conditioning work for the first time this spring. Roethlisberger reported to the team's practice facility one day after he met with commissioner Roger Goodell in New York to discuss the two-time Super Bowl winner's offfield problems. Most Steelers players began the weightlifting and conditioning sessions March 29, but Roethlisberger, who learned Monday that he will not be charged for analleged sexual assault on a college student last month, previously stayed away to avoid being a distraction.
