Jewell Loving is a style standout. "I love clothes. I don't follow trends. I wear what feels and looks good on me," says the 32-year-old Fort Meade resident. We couldn't argue that point when we Glimpsed her enjoying the First Friday event at Chesapeake Wine Co. Loving says she likes to wear bright colors and unique styles that others might be afraid to try. Her personal style is a colorful contrast to the uniform she wears as an Army staff sergeant. "At work, I have to be so hard-core. … So on my off time, I like to dress so that people say, ‘I did not know you were in the military.' " Mission accomplished.

The look White cotton puffed-sleeve tuxedo-style blouse. Red low-rise mini skirt. Red wide elastic belt. Red patent leather strappy peep-toe pumps. Red cotton knit beret. Silver-tone charm necklace. Red patent leather clutch. Silver stud earrings. Stainless-steel Gucci watch.

Where it came from She ordered the blouse from Victoria's Secret. Her skirt, beret and clutch came from Charlotte Russe. She picked up the belt at Forever 21, and her shoes at Payless. The watch was a gift. Her necklace was a find at Wal-Mart, and the earrings are her 12-year-old daughter's.

How she shops "I go shopping maybe once a month. … I like H&M, Charlotte Russe and Forever 21. I love United Colors of Benetton."

Her signature look "I love bright colors. As it gets warmer outside, I'll start mixing colors. You might catch me in a yellow shirt and some red shorts, or a yellow shirt and royal blue skirt. … I have some black pieces, but with me being so tall and skinny, I try to stay away from [black clothes]."

Do's and don'ts "Because I'm tall and I have really long legs, I don't wear long skirts or anything past my knees. Because of my height, I don't wear bell bottoms. … I always stick to skinny jeans. … A ‘do' is I always add color."

Her fashion passions "I love shoes — pumps and crazy colored gym shoes. … I love skirts because they accentuate my legs. I'm not a shapely female, so I've got to show off what I have, and that's my legs."

Her fashion philosophy "I try not to dress for [other people], but dress for myself — what makes me feel comfortable. ... And sometimes you've got to stand out. Fashion — the way you dress — is the story about how you feel. … My fashion says that I'm very confident and outgoing."
