Towson's Collins named CAA Baseball Player of the Week

Senior right fielder Kevin Collins was named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week after batting .609 while leading Towson to a 3-2 record. He scored eight runs, drove in 13 and hit six doubles and a triple.

More baseball: For the second time this spring, Navy right-hander Ben Nelson was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week; in his league debut and second-career start, he pitched eight shutout innings against Lehigh. ... Frostburg State junior Britton Quayle (Severna Park, Anne Arundel CC) was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week after striking out eight in a 13-5 win over Penn State Altoona and earning a save against Medaille.

Softball: Stevenson senior pitcher-infielder Sarah Moelter (Dulaney) was named CAC Player of the Week after compiling a 0.91 ERA in 15.1 innings. ... Frostburg State senior outfielder Lindsay Freitag (Parkville) was named AMCC Player of the Week after getting eight hits, seven runs and seven RBIs in 13 at-bats in three victories in four games.
