CA members can get ID cards soon

April 04, 2010|By Larry Carson

Columbia Association members can begin getting new photo identification cards without charge in mid-April, although the long-planned launch of the new computer software program that requires them has been put off from May 1 until late June, according to Steve Sattler, the association's communications director.

Known as Customer Service System, the CSS software is undergoing thorough final testing, Sattler said. CA employee training is to begin in early May. The $1 million-plus CSS system has been the subject of criticism through the years over its cost and because staff members were sent to India to help develop it. Sattler has said the travel was necessary and the result worth the wait.

Photos for the new identity cards may be taken at the three CA indoor athletic centers or at the association's offices on Columbia's Lakefront.
