Ice skating The Columbia Figure Skating Club presents its "Musical Festival on Ice" at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Columbia Ice Rink, 5876 Thunder Hill Road. Fundraiser The Horizon Councils and Rotary Clubs of Howard County are the hosts for Soup 'r Sundae from noon to 2 p.m., featuring soups from area restaurants to raise money for Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center. The event will be at the Spear Center of the General Growth Properties Building, 10275 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia. Admission is $20 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12 and includes unlimited soup, bread and ice cream. There will be music and arts and crafts activities for children.

Figure skating The Gardens Figure Skating Club presents its annual spring ice show, "The Good, The Bad & The Wicked on Ice," at the Gardens Ice House's Patrick Arena, 13800 Old Gunpowder Road in Laurel. Shows at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. Call 301-953-0100.

Art exhibit The Artists' Gallery, in collaboration with the Howard County Conservancy, is presenting "Vanishing Howard County," which focuses on landscapes and scenes from the area. Agriculture forum The Howard County Economic Development Authority's Agriculture Marketing Program hosts "Tilling the Fields of Knowledge" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Howard County Fairgrounds, 2210 Fairgrounds Road, West Friendship. Open house The Columbia SkatePark will hold an open house from noon to 4 p.m. There will be free admission, a skate competition, demonstrations and more. Wine tasting and auction Annual "Taste for Life," a wine tasting and auction event that features more than 100 wines from around the world, will be held from noon to 5 p.m. April 11 at Ten Oaks Ballroom, 5000 Signal Bell Court in Clarksville. Live and silent auction includes a celebrity wine cruise, a make-your-own wine event at a local facility, an at-home wine tasting, sports tickets and more. Doggie event The Columbia Association will hold its annual "Dog Day Afternoon" from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 17 at Hopewell Park in Columbia. In addition to the bike-riding event, the organization will offer a walking tour and a post-ride/walk celebration that includes fitness activities, a bike rodeo, bike repair clinics and more.
