Travel deal: Spring Fever' at Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay

March 26, 2010|By Michelle Deal-Zimmerman | Baltimore Sun reporter

What's the deal? Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort in Cambridge has a "Spring Fever" rate starting at $129 per night for stays Sunday through Thursday. The rate is $199 for Friday and Saturday. Children under age 18 stay free.

What's the savings? Hotel rates can be squishy. For example, the Hyatt Chesapeake Bay has a "Mid-Atlantic Winter" escape that's about $179 per night for a midweek stay. So this is a $50 savings off that rate. I found regular weekend rates ranging from $299-$449 per night. In addition to discounted rooms, the resort is offering a host of family "spring break" activities from April 7-11. The activities include "dive-in" movies at the indoor pool, family sports tournaments, face painting, moon bounce and a teen lounge.

What's the catch? Reservations must be made in advance and blackout dates may apply. The rates are based on double occupancy and do not include taxes or resort fees — $15 per night. The rates are available through June 4, but the activities are limited to the special spring break dates.
