Slots deal keeps getting worse

March 26, 2010

How amazing! Marylanders are being asked to shoulder the $600 million price tag for the 15,000 slot machines we are told we need ("Plans to buy slot machines questioned," March 25). That's $40,000 each.

More amazing still, the estimates of slots revenues has fallen in every accounting since the referendum in November 2008, and the cost keeps going higher and higher. At this rate, we are going to have to build racetracks inside the casinos to save Maryland's gambling industry!
