Boys basketball state semifinals

(All games at University of

Maryland's Comcast Center)

TODAY Class 3A Stephen Decatur (21-4) vs. No. 5 Milford Mill (23-3)
Time: 5 p.m.

Outlook: The Millers have relied on a balanced offense all season, and it was again apparent in a 73-64 win over Parkville to claim the North region Saturday. G Anthony Goode, G Isaiah McCray and F Tevin Hanner score 12 points per game and F James Hamilton is at 11.5 to give the two-time Baltimore County champions a strong inside-outside game. Milford Mill will look to contain Decatur's do-it-all senior G Cedrick Johnson, who averages 20 points and 10 assists. The Millers have won three state titles, the last coming in 1994, while the Seahawks' only crown came in 1970.

Class 4A No. 7 Old Mill (20-3) vs. Urbana (21-2)
Time: 9 p.m.

Outlook: Guard play will be the focal point as each team chases its first state title. The Patriots, making their third state semifinal in six years, are averaging 80 points, led by two senior guards, Mike Holley and Chris Day, who each average 16. Juniors Eric Savage (13.1 ppg) and Joe McCargo (9.4 ppg) can also score, with 6-foot-6 C Chris Shaw providing an inside presence. Urbana, which has won its past 21 games, relies on senior PG Kevin Sowers, a three-year starter who averages 19.5 points and is the program's all-time leader in assists. G Frankie Jarboe (15.7 ppg) and G Jude Merkel (13.7) also are key contributors for the Hawks.
