Monarch charter school taking applications

Deadline is April 15 for kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th graders

Monarch Academy Public Charter School has begun accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year and has scheduled several informational sessions and open houses for parents and prospective students.

Anne Arundel County students entering kindergarten, first, second, fifth and sixth grades can apply at monarchcharter.org. The deadline is April 15.

Informational sessions have been scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 18, 25 and April 8. Open houses, for which reservations are required, have been scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. March 24 and April 7. Reservations can be made by calling the school at 410- 444-7582. The school is at 6730 Baymeadow Drive in Glen Burnie.

The evening informational sessions will feature parent testimonials, student work, tours and question-and-answer sessions, while the morning open houses will feature question-and-answer sessions and tours during the school day. Fifth-grade students will conduct the tours during both events.
