Scouting report: Blast vs. Philadelphia KiXX

March 05, 2010|By Glenn Graham

Tonight: KiXX (5-8) at Blast (8-7)
Time: 7:35

Outlook: These teams are headed in opposite directions, with the Blast's 23-14 win over the KiXX on Sunday providing proof. The Blast took an 8-0 first-quarter lead in Philadelphia, getting a hat trick from forward Machel Millwood and goals from seven others to win its third straight game. The victory gave the Blast a two-game lead on the KiXX for the third and final playoff spot in the Major Indoor Soccer League. With the regular season winding down - the Blast has five games left and the KiXX have seven - tonight's game is basically a two-game swing. A win puts the Blast three games in front of the KiXX and tied with Monterrey (9-7) for second place. A loss and the KiXX would be just one game back. For tonight's game, the Blast will host former basketball standouts Sam Jones, Wali Jones and "Coach" Chuck Hatcher as part of Hope4Life and Champions4Champions Night in conjunction with the Island Soccer League.
