Blast jumps out fast, wins 3rd in row with 23-14 rout of KiXX

Machel Millwood had a hat trick and seven of his teammates also scored to lead the visiting Blast to a 23-14 victory over the Philadelphia KiXX in the Major Indoor Soccer League. The third-place Blast has won three straight games to improve to 8-7 going into Friday's rematch with the KiXX at 1st Mariner Arena. The Blast put the game away early, taking an 8-0 lead in the first quarter and a 15-2 advantage into halftime. Millwood's hat trick was his second of the season.

NBA: Cleveland Cavaliers center Shaquille O'Neal will undergo surgery today to repair his injured right thumb. O'Neal was examined Sunday by Dr. Thomas Graham at the National Hand Center in Baltimore. He will perform the surgery. A magnetic resonance imaging Saturday confirmed the injury was significant. O'Neal was hurt during a win at Boston on Thursday. The team has not given a timetable for his return.

NATIONALS: Outfielder Josh Willingham has not reported to camp yet and could be delayed further by what manager Jim Riggleman called "a personal matter."
