Wine Find: 2007 Sherwood Pinot Noir

February 24, 2010|By Michael Dresser | Baltimore Sun reporter

From: Marlborough, New Zealand

Price: $15

Serve with: Roast poultry, tuna steak

This smooth, spicy, intensely flavorful pinot noir doesn't follow the classic style of the red Burgundies of France. It offers a distinctive taste of black pepper that's reminiscent of zinfandel, but in this wine, it works to a charm. It's a medium-bodied wine with all the other pinot signature flavors such as black cherry and wild berries. It's ready to drink now.
