Maryland's Vasquez named ACC Player of the Week

Maryland senior guard Greivis Vasquez was named ACC Player of the Week for the third time this season and the seventh time in his career. Vasquez averaged 24.7 points, 6.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds as the Terps moved into second place with wins over Virginia, North Carolina State and Georgia Tech.

More men's honors: The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference named UMES sophomore Tyler Hines Defensive Player of the Week after he had 13 rebounds, blocked a shot and made a steal in a win Saturday against Coppin State. ... St. Mary's senior guard Camontae Griffin (Dunbar) was named Pride of Maryland Player of the Week and Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week after leading the Seahawks to four straight wins. ... Washington College senior guard-forward Andrew Chambers was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week after he averaged 21.5 points in two victories.

Women's honors: Navy junior guard Angela Myers was named Patriot League Player of the Week for the second time this season after averaging 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in two victories. ... UMES senior guard-forward April McBride was named MEAC Player of the Week after averaging 30.7 points and 8.7 rebounds in three games. ... McDaniel senior Ali Moreland (South River) was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week.
