Vasquez named ACC Player of the Week

Greivis Vasquez earned the ACC Player of the Week for the third time this season, the conference announced Monday.

The senior guard averaged 24.7 points, 6.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds as the Terps moved into second place in the ACC with victories against Virginia, North Carolina State and Georgia Tech during the week.

Vasquez scored 30 points, including 25 in the first half, and added eight rebounds and five assists in the Terps' 85-66 win over the Cavaliers on Monday. He contributed 26 points, six assists and four rebounds in the team's 67-58 road victory against the Wolfpack on Wednesday.

In Saturday's 76-74 win over Georgia Tech, Vasquez became the 41st player in conference history to score 2,000 points in his career when he picked up a team-high 18 points, eight assists and five rebounds.

Georgia Tech's Derrick Favors was recognized as the ACC Rookie of the Week.
