February 22, 2010|By Sports Digest

After nearly 32 minutes of scoreless play, Rod Dyachenko scored the first of four second-half goals to give the visiting Blast a 9-0 Major Indoor Soccer League victory over the Rockford Rampage on Sunday night. Sagu, who missed Friday's 12-8 victory because of a red-card suspension, made 16 saves en route to the second shutout of his Blast career and the second in franchise history. The Blast (7-7) moved to within 1 1/2 games of first-place Monterrey La RaZa and into sole possession of third place - the final playoff spot. Dyachenko's goal, his second of the season, came at 1:54 of the third quarter, and Robbie Aristodemo extended the lead to 4-0 late in the quarter. Machel Millwood opened the final quarter with a goal at 3:05, and defender Billy Nelson sealed the victory with a 3-point goal against Rockford's sixth-attacker offense in the final minute. The Blast, which has the best defense in the league this season, having allowed just 64 goals (137 points) in 14 games, played without Adriano Dos Santos (elbow) and Carlos Garcia (illness). The team will play Sunday at the Philadelphia KiXX before returning to 1st Mariner Arena for matches March 5 and March 6 against the KiXX and La RaZa.
