Man robbed outside friend's Laurel apartment

A 28-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint by as he knocked on a friend's apartment door Sunday night in Laurel, Anne Arundel County police said.

The man was knocking on the door in the 3500 block of Sharonwood Road at about 9:30 p.m. when a man with a handgun approached from behind, ordered him to get down on the ground and took the two sets of keys he was carrying, police said.

When the friend in the apartment opened the door slightly to see what was going on, the robber unsuccessfully tried to push his way in, police said. The target of the robbery was not hurt. The man with the gun fled with another man who was waiting nearby, police said.
