Today An 8.5-mile hike over unmarked and unmaintained trails in Patapsco Valley State Park with the Mountain Club of Maryland. About 1,000 feet of climbing with multiple minor stream crossings. Scenery includes open field vistas, river overlooks, ponds, streams and mature forest enclosures. Moderate pace. Details: 410 747-1081.

Today Nine-mile hike at a moderate pace in Catoctin Mountain Park with the Mountain Club of Maryland. Elevation gain is 1,500 feet. Details: 410-871-0066

Ten matches, beginning at 5 p.m. All shooting, except for beginning juniors, is offhand and the course of fire for each match is 40 rounds at bull's-eye targets at 25 feet, and 20 rounds at silhouette targets at 50 feet.
