UMBC's Braerman, Cox honored by America East

UMBC junior attack Erika Braerman (Fallston) and freshman midfielder Lindsay Cox were named the America East women's lacrosse Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Braerman had four goals and two assists in a victory against Jacksonville; Cox had an assist, picked up two ground balls, won two draw controls and caused a turnover.

College field hockey: Maryland announced the addition of five incoming freshmen: goalie Brooke Cabrera (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich Academy), goalie Natalie Hunter (Marmora, N.J./Ocean City High), midfielder Ali McEvoy (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown High), forward Shelby Sydnor (Rosemont, Pa./Radnor High) and center forward Jill Witmer (Lancaster, Pa./Home school).

Youth soccer: Baltimore Bays Chelsea lost, 1-0, to 94 CASL Elite of North Carolina in Under-15 Boys competition at the US Youth Soccer National League tournament in Plantation, Fla. Yanni Hachem scored the only goal in the 63rd minute from 12 yards. On Sunday, Chelsea rallied to beat the Lemont Raiders of Illinois, 2-1, on goals by Romy Hernandez in the 34th minute on a near-post header after a corner kick and in the 43rd minute on a penalty kick.
