Police search for teenager, missing infant

Howard County police are searching for a 17-year-old girl who they believe took the 15-month-old child of another teenager who lives in the same foster home in Elkridge.

Police say Shante Chamblee had agreed to watch Ma'Kaiyla Davis while the girl's mother was away for the weekend. After learning that her foster mother would also not be home, police say, Chamblee went to stay with a former foster mother in Baltimore. Police say Chamblee was last seen leaving a residence in the 1700 block of Simms Ave. around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

The former foster mother told police that Chamblee said that she was taking the child to a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant, but did not say which location. The woman gave Chamblee bus money to return to Elkridge, but neither Chamblee nor the toddler has been seen since.

The little girl was seen wearing a blue denim jacket, blue shirt with white flowers, purple pants and red shoes.

Police are asking anyone who sees Chamblee or Ma'Kaiyla to call 911. Anyone with information is asked to call Howard County police at 410-313-3200.
