Midshipmen Hold Off Bucknell, 81-79

Romeo Garcia scored a game-high 20 points, and the host Navy men's basketball team held off a late rally by Bucknell to win, 81-79, Friday.

The game featured 10 ties and 10 lead changes, but the Midshipmen (11-12, 5-3 Patriot League) took the lead for good, 54-53, at the 13:01 mark of the second half on a 3-pointer by Garcia. The Bison (9-15, 4-4) came within two points twice in the final 50 seconds of play.

Bryson Johnson and G.W. Boon each finished with 16 points for Bucknell.

Loyola 80, Rider 73: : Brett Harvey scored 15 points and Shane Walker had 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the visiting Greyhounds (11-12, 4-9 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).

Loyola, which hit 10 3-pointers, completed a regular-season sweep of the Broncs (13-12, 6-7).

Bethune-Cookman 65, Coppin State 58, OT: : CJ Reed scored 21 points and as the visiting Wildcats (14-9, 6-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) outscored the Eagles 9-2 in overtime.

Coppin State (5-16, 0-9) rallied from a seven-point second-half deficit to force overtime.

Quinston Reggins led the Eagles with 16 points.

Vermont 79, UMBC 60: : Garvey Young scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first half as the Catamounts (17-8, 9-3 America East) won their third straight.

Chris De La Rosa led the Retrievers (2-21, 1-9) with 18 points, and sophomore wing Chauncey Gilliam (15 points), a Hammond alum, scored in double figures for the seventh straight game.


Bethune-Cookman 56, Coppin State 54: : The host Eagles (8-12, 4-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) put together a late rally to draw within one but could never claim the lead.
