Man killed after being struck by CSX train

A man was killed Thursday evening when he was struck by a CSX train near Elkridge, Howard County police said. Lt. Tim Black, a county police watch commander in Ellicott City, said the unidentified man was walking in the tracks about 8:45 p.m. outside Elkridge when he was struck by the westbound train believed to be heading for Cumberland. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to the state medical examiner's office. County and railroad police were investigating the incident.
