With one snowstorm just passed and another one possibly brewing for Friday and Saturday, local high schools officials are busy trying to reschedule athletics events around the weather.

Anne Arundel County schools were closed on Wednesday, postponing athletics events for a second straight day. Moving a couple of swim meets to Thursday forced the postponement of Friday's county championship meet.

Because two regular-season swim meets were moved to Thursday, Friday's scheduled championship meet has been changed to Feb. 12 at 4 p.m. at the Annapolis Swim Club. Meade, Southern, North County and Glen Burnie will have their meet Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the Annapolis Swim Club. Old Mill, Annapolis, Chesapeake and Northeast will follow at 6 p.m.

County basketball games will be made up on Thursday if teams do not have non-league contests already scheduled. Severna Park and Old Mill will move their boys and girls game to Monday.

Two key girls basketball games involving programs in Anne Arundel County will be played Thursday. Undefeated and No. 6 Meade will travel to No. 5 Arundel for a battle of teams unbeaten in the county league at 6:45. No. 3 Archbishop Spalding will travel to No. 1 St. Frances at 5:15 p.m.

In Carroll County, a conflict resulting from Tuesday night's postponements has moved the North Carroll-Century basketball games to Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. The girls play at Century while with the boys at North Carroll.

In Howard County, the Glenelg at River Hill wrestling match scheduled for Saturday has been moved up to Friday at 6 p.m. The meet will now be varsity only.

Reservoir's match Thursday with Fallston has been postponed to accommodate a county tri-meet. Reservoir and Mount Hebron will travel to Centennial Thursday at 5:30 for a meet that was originally scheduled for Saturday. Fallston at Reservoir will be made up Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. Mount Hebron had been scheduled to wrestle Aberdeen Thursday and will make up that meet Feb. 12.

At Mount Hebron, Friday's girls basketball game vs. Oakland Mills, originally scheduled for after the boys game at 7 p.m. will be played before the boys game. The girls tip off at 4 p.m. with boys to follow at 5:30.
