Digging out after the snowfall

February 01, 2010

Left, Torsten Galle, visiting Baltimore from Berlin, Germany, braves the cold for a jog on the roadway around Lake Montebello a day after the area saw more than 5 inches of snowfall. Right, Leith Walk Elementary School custodians Arthur Williams, left, and Leon Cooper clear the sidewalks for school today. Saturday's snowfall, which had been forecast late in the week to hit south of the area harder and to be a light dusting in the Baltimore region, and cold temperatures left powdery snow that was easy to sweep away from cars and sidewalks. Today is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 36 degrees and a low of 20 degrees. There's a chance the area could see more snow on Wednesday and Friday.
