Former Ehrlich administration transportation official Trent Kittleman plans to officially announce her candidacy for Howard County executive on Feb. 15, two days before holding a fundraiser featuring the ex-governor, Republican Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.

Kittleman, a former deputy state transportation secretary and director of the Maryland Transportation Authority under Ehrlich, is the widow of former state Sen. Robert H. Kittleman, and the stepmother of Sen. Allan H. Kittleman, the Senate minority leader. The Republican would oppose county Executive Ken Ulman, a Democrat.

Trent Kittleman plans to lead a Howard GOP ticket sprinkled with former Ehrlich officials. Robert L. Flanagan, a former state delegate and Ehrlich's transportation secretary, and Dennis R. Schrader, the state's former Homeland Security secretary, are both working toward County Council campaigns, though neither has made a formal announcement.
