National Steeplechase Association CEO Lou Raffetto will step down after the spring season, effective June 30. "My goal from the outset was to stimulate growth and increase revenue for the NSA," said Raffetto, 59, formerly the president of the Maryland Jockey Club. "We got some things accomplished in a very short time frame and laid the groundwork for future growth. ... Unfortunately, the depressed economic situation and some stringent state and federal regulations stalled some of our immediate plans regarding pari-mutuel wagering and simulcasting at our premier race meets."
College football: Navy and Indiana will play in 2012 and 2013, according to Indiana. The Midshipmen and Hoosiers are set to meet Nov. 17, 2012, with the site to be determined. Indiana opens its 2010 season by hosting Towson on Sept. 2.
