In the discussion of the city pavement regulations that do not permit wood chip driveways as a permeable alternative to slow stormwater runoff ("'Greener' city bars wood chip driveway" Jan. 19), what is being overlooked is that there are several different alternative paving materials that can satisfy both environmental concerns and city code. Permeable pavers and pervious concrete are two materials that are available, and while they currently are somewhat more expensive than concrete, asphalt or wood chips, as they are used more, their price should come down and everyone can benefit.
