January 01, 2010

Anne Arundel County police arrested two men and charged them in the armed robbery Wednesday of a bank in Crofton. The BB&T Bank in the 2100 block of Defense Highway was held up about 12:15 p.m., and the robbers got into a white Mercedes sport utility vehicle and headed east. When officers spotted the vehicle headed south on Route 301 and attempted to stop it, the driver tried to elude them in the Upper Marlboro area of Prince George's County, according to police. The occupants of the SUV ran into woods near Route 301 and Marlboro Pike, where they were apprehended by Prince George's, Anne Arundel and state police. Authorities recovered a gun and money believed to have been taken during the robbery, police said. Andrew J. Hooker-Orange, 21, of the 13400 block of Cherry Tree Crossing in Brandywine and Samuel Sullivan Jr., 35, of the 5100 block of Ayres Place in Southeast Washington were charged with armed robbery and related counts, according to police.
