Calvert Hall wins Benedictine Capital City Classic

Graham, Jackson lead Cardinals to tournament title

Jonathan Graham scored 11 points and Donya Jackson added 10 to power second-ranked Calvert Hall past Chestnut Hill (Pa.), 44-36, in the championship game of the Benedictine Capital City Classic in Richmond, Va., Wednesday.

The Cardinals went 11-for-20 from the foul line and cruised down the stretch.

Calvert Hall finished 3-0 at the three-day tournament.

No. 1 Mount St. Joseph 78, J.L. Mann (S.C.) 53: Eric Atkins scored a game-high 20 points as the Gaels (12-1) beat the Patriots (6-6) in a consolation semifinal at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Mount St. Joseph faces rival St. Frances in today's consolation championship at 1:45 p.m.

The Gaels stretched their seven-point halftime lead by outscoring J.L. Mann, 45-27, in the second half. Atkins went 7-for-12 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Ryley Beaumont scored 17 points and Matt Miller added 16.

No. 3 St. Frances 64, Daniel (S.C.) 52: Dante Holmes scored 21 points as the Panthers (8-4) beat the Lions (6-2) to advance to today's consolation final at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Wayne Sparrow and R.J. Williams each added 14 points for the St. Frances. The Panthers shot 60 percent from the field in the second half to pull away from Daniel.

No. 4 Lake Clifton 110, Connexions 44: Josh Selby had a triple-double with 46 points, 16 assists and 12 rebounds to power the Lakers (3-2) past Connexions at the Northwestern IABBO Mixer.

Durand Johnson added 20 points for Lake Clifton, which built a 54-22 halftime lead.

Cardinal Gibbons 65, No. 9 Digital Harbor 57: Tournament MVP Dylon Cormier had a double double (33 points, 13 rebounds) as the Crusaders upset the Rams (6-3) in the O. Ray Mullis Classic championship game.

Davon Usher led Digital Harbor with 32 points and Justin Jackson had 21.

No. 1 Archbishop Spalding 63, Hillside (N.C.) 41: Sherae Swinson scored 17 points Brya Freeland added 16 as the Cavaliers (10-1) beat the Hornets at the Title IX Invitational at Trinity College in Washington.

Spalding outscored Hillside 27-16 in the second half.

No. 10 Arundel 57, South County (Va.) 51: Sheronne Vails scored 18 points to power the visiting Wildcats (5-2) past the Stallions (5-3) in the IAABO Tournament at C.H. Flowers.
