New Year's Eve 'Golden Ticket' at Harrah's

What's the deal?: This New Year's Eve, just about every casino in Atlantic City is offering parties open to the public - not just those on the casinos' invitation lists like it used to be. At Harrah's Atlantic City, you can get the "2010 Golden Ticket" package, which includes a Waterfront Tower premium room, two tickets to a celebration in the resort's lush indoor-pool area, three-hour open bar and a lobster-and-champagne buffet for $887 per couple. At the Showboat, another Harrah's property, a party at the House of Blues featuring rock band O.A.R., access to the exclusive Foundation Room nightclub, a bottle of champagne and a deluxe room goes for $799 ($999 with upgrade to a suite) as part of the "Hob Rock N New Year" package.

What's the savings?: Overnight rates on New Year's Eve are among the priciest of the year. Rooms at the Showboat for Dec. 31 start at $489. For a few hundred more you get a concert and a behind-the-velvet-rope experience. Priceless.

What's the catch?: Rooms may be limited and the deals require a 48-hour cancellation notice to receive a refund.
