Hospice Cup artwork Hospice Cup Inc. is calling for all artists, from painters to photographers, to submit work to serve as the official image of Hospice Cup XXIX taking place in Annapolis in September. Deadline to submit artwork is Jan. 15. The judging will be done by board members and hospices and announced in February. Artists may submit their original work of "Racing and Sailing Representations" to a participating hospice in the D.C., Virginia or Maryland area or by contacting Karma O'Neill, Hospice Cup Inc. executive director, at 410-919-8393.

The winning artwork will appear in promotional advertisements, videos, event T-shirts and posters. The chosen image will become the property of the Hospice Cup Inc.; the winning artist will receive full recognition for the image. The image will also be donated to the 2010 Shore Party Auction after the race to help raise funds for hospice services. For additional information, go to

Senior insurance A senior health insurance program (SHIP) will be offered the first Tuesday of every month beginning Jan. 5, at the Arnold Senior Activity Center, 44 Church Road, Arnold. Call for appointment at 410-222-1922.

Diabetes prevention Baltimore Washington Medical Center will offer classes in diabetes prevention at the Joslin Diabetes Center, 300 Hospital Drive, Suite 119. Classes will be held:

•5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 6, Feb. 3, March 3, April 7, May 5 and June 2.

•9 a.m to 10 a.m. Feb. 12, April 9 and June 11.

•2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 25, March 22 and May 24.

Classes are recommended for those interested in learning more about how eating more healthfully and being more active can affect overall health and wellness. Cost is $25 per class. To register call the Joslin center at 410-787-4940.
