4 shootings, one fatal, in city's east side

A 15-year-old Brooklyn girl was not expected to survive after being shot in the head Tuesday night while talking to people on the street. Police were attempting to determine whether the girl was the intended target.

The shooting was one of four that occurred during a span of five hours, killing one man. Three of the shootings occurred in East Baltimore.

Danell Freeman, 19, of the 1000 block of McAleer Ct., was fatally shot at 3:20 p.m. near East Madison and Aisquith streets in the Oldtown community. He was shot in the chest and died a short time later at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

About 7 p.m., a cabdriver was shot in the neck during a robbery in the 600 block of N. Glover St. and was taken by ambulance to Hopkins, where he was treated and was expected to survive.

A few minutes later in the nearby 700 block of N. Linwood Ave., a man was shot in the head by an unknown assailant and was reported in very critical condition at Hopkins. He was not expected to survive.

Few details were available in the Brooklyn shooting. The shooting occurred at about 8:10 p.m. in the 4200 block of 10th St. Police asked anyone with information to call the homicide unit at 410-396-2100.
