Man pleads not guilty in fatal hit-and-run

December 18, 2009

Thomas L. Meighan Jr., 39, pleaded not guilty Thursday to indictments involving separate hit-and-run incidents, including one that killed 20-year-old Miriam Frankl, a Johns Hopkins University junior who was struck as she crossed St. Paul Street in October. Meighan, who has at least nine prior drinking-and-driving convictions, is charged with manslaughter in Frankl's death and with other crimes relating to a July 31 crash and a separate incident the day Frankl was struck. His trial date has been set for March.
