Navy's Pospisil chosen to play in East-West Shrine Game

Navy senior linebacker Ross Pospisil was selected to play in the East-West Shrine Game, which will take place at 3 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. He leads Navy with 91 tackles and is tied for the team lead in tackles for a loss with six. Pospisil is the 22nd Navy player selected to the game and the first since Adam Ballard in 2007.

Men's soccer: : Maryland sophomore goalie Zac MacMath was selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-America third team. ... UMBC sophomore forward Andrew Bulls (McDonogh) was named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Conference first team. Junior midfielder Levi Houapeu and junior defender Chris Williams (Calvert Hall) each earned second-team honors. ... Johns Hopkins junior forward Scott Bukoski was named an NSCAA third-team All-American. Additionally, Bukoski and junior midfielder Evan Kleinberg earned NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic first-team honors, while senior Ravi Gill earned All-Mid-Atlantic third-team recognition.

Football: : Johns Hopkins coach Jim Margraff was named the South Region Coach of the Year by Senior running back Andrew Kase and senior offensive lineman Mike Stoffel garnered All-South Region first-team honors, while senior linebacker Colin Wixted and junior kicker Alex Lachman were selected to the third team. ... Salisbury senior defensive back Brandon Hudson was named to the All-South Region first team, and senior defensive end Paul Cynewski earned third-team honors.

Blast's Gonzaga named MISL Offensive Player of Month

The Major Indoor Soccer League named Blast forward Lucio Gonzaga the Offensive Player of the Month for November. Gonzaga led the Blast to a 19-8 win over the Philadelphia KiXX on Nov. 21, recording a hat trick, including a three-point goal. The Blast (1-1) travels to Monterrey on Sunday with game time set for 1 p.m.

Indoor football: : The Baltimore Mariners of the American Indoor Football Association re-signed offensive lineman Jeff Tyler (Towson University), who played with the team last season. Tyler was named Towson's Lineman of the Year as a senior in 2007. He played in 39 career games for the Tigers, starting 31.
