An article in the Nov. 27 editions about a reduction in certain dropped Baltimore court cases failed to make clear that the data were from one unit within the Baltimore state's attorney's office. The Firearms Investigation Violence Enforcement Unit reduced the number of cases dropped because of insufficient evidence, suggesting better cooperation with police, though it also increased the number of dropped cases because of officers failing to appear.

The Baltimore Sun regrets the error.
